The words EVERYONE says immediately after viewing their first video performance.<\/p>\n
You think you sound terrible because the voice you\u2019re hearing is not what you hear inside your head.<\/p>\n
But ask anyone else. \u201cWhat are you talking about? Your voice sounds fine.\u201d<\/p>\n
That IS your voice, after all. You\u2019ve just never heard it before. Get over it.<\/p>\n
But what about not looking like a movie star? Is that a problem?<\/p>\n
Guess what? You look the way you look, and literally, no-one else in the world has a problem with it. In fact, some of them think you\u2019re downright gorgeous. Just imagine they all do!<\/p>\n
What else? Your performance isn\u2019t up to the standard of a professional news reporter.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s true.<\/p>\n
But not a single person cares! After all, you\u2019re NOT a professional news reporter, right? You\u2019re a skilled, experienced, knowledgeable REALTOR\u00ae, and people care about what you\u2019ve got to say.<\/p>\n
You are indeed your own worst critic. EVERYONE else thinks you\u2019re great.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ll tell you a secret. I\u2019m giving you this advice, but I literally cannot watch myself on my own videos I\u2019ve produced for my course. I cringe every time I see how incredibly awful I look and sound.<\/p>\n
But when I admit this to others, they tell me I\u2019m crazy.<\/p>\n
(I still think they\u2019re lying so as not to hurt my feelings.)<\/p>\n
The truth is I have to fight my perfectionist tendencies. I know if I don\u2019t force myself to release those videos\u2014as imperfect as I think they are\u2014they would literally NEVER get done.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve learned that obsessing over being perfect prevents me from growing.<\/p>\n
Besides, I plan to revise the 14 modules over time continually. Will they get better and better? Sure!<\/p>\n
And so will your stuff. You\u2019ve just got to get started. The more you practice, the better you get, just like everything else in life that is new to you.<\/p>\n
Who would have guessed there would be a time when it would be impossible to meet your clients face-to-face? If there was ever a time to overcome your aversion to doing video, this is it!<\/p>\n
Stop obsessing. Start doing. Start growing.<\/p>\n
